Could somebody please explain Bartok will clear the room? Play Schoenberg in the other room, then. In all seriousness, I've been listening to Bartok for so long that I forgot that many still consider him to be "one of those modern composers. Yuk." IMHO, he stands with Stravins...
Wagner's Ring Cycle on SACD from Adelaide, Austral I read that update on SA-CD.net some time ago and wondered how long it will be, before these become available. I have been disappointed thusfar with the number of Operas becoming available on SACD, so I'm quite anxious for this one. btw... if you ...
Can all amps drive a 4 ohm load? My pea-brained understanding of this matter is that, if your amp has tubes in it (I believe this one does?), that your amp will work harder to produce less wattage when connected to a "difficult" speaker load such as 4 ohms.Solid state amps, on th...
Need A Recommendation Birdland Odeon-Ag. Great Dac. However, the Birdland really shines brightest when you can plug it directly into your amp. I think they run about $1300 and $1800 with the re-clocker. I hear the Benchmark is a good one, too. Around $1000.Cheers.
Are Rotel amps and preamps any good? Elinor, If he CAN afford 50% more ($3K), what should he consider? Curious to know... Maybe a VK-220 from Balanced Audio Technology?Cheers.
Elton John SACD releases I finally listened to these discs in multi-channel. Also very nice. I still prefer two-channel, however.
Elton John SACD releases I think that the Super Audio Center in Boulder Colorado is doing it right! These discs were mastered there. I read also that the new John Hiatt album is being done there.
CD pcm to ................SACD dsd "Wish List" Quadrophenia - The original recordings were made for quadrophonic sound, so it's a natural for 4 channel SACD. Can you imagine hearing "The Rock" coming at you from all sides? Can you see the real me? Can ya? Ok, I'll stop.Cheers
Paradigm Studio 60/100 v3 for music/HT I own the 60's and have auditioned the 100's. I would start by saying that the 100 is not a better speaker than the 60. It's just more speaker. Let the size of your room dictate that choice. Your vaulted ceiling may justify the 100's. The V1 and V...
Good match with Sonus Faber Grand Pianos Keith_316, I have a rather naive question. The GPs recommend 50-250 watts power in the owners manual. Do you worry (does anybody worry?) about going at twice the recommended power? Just curious.
Universal Players that do not convert DSD to PCM? http://www.superaudiocenter.com to read about the Sonoma workstation and native DSD, the high-quality analog tape shortage, and the new John Hiatt album, etc. Check it out. Tom
how did you find "the gon" via Bob Dylan. I was out of the audiophile game for a good number of years until I got this news about Bob Dylan and remastered discs on this fancy new digital format called SACD.
What time do you wear? All I can say is... If it beeps, leave it at home when you go to the symphony, please! And if you're too deaf to hear your own watch beeping 18 inches away from your ears, stay home, unless your plan from the outset was to ruin my evening. http:/...
Are Rotel amps and preamps any good? The RMB-1095 is at the center of my multi-channel system. I've never considered upgrading it.
high quality transports I second the Theta Carmen II suggestion. It's the best I've heard. |
