Looking to get started. please help
I have found a NAD 326 integrated amp, used for $350 that I am looking to possibly pull the trigger on. The big difference between the 326 and 316 seems to be the power. So, I figure why not buy the one with more power used for a better price.Soun...

Rootsrockreggae, did you read this review on the NAD? Also, here is a review for the Integra version of the Onkyo. My understanding of the "Audiophiles Welcome?" section at the end of the Integra review is that the unit is a good choice for a simp...

But wouldn't the turntable sound better if I connected through a phono input?A phono input provides additional gain and RIAA equalization for records. Your turntable has this built in, but can be switched out to use a phono input, like on the Onky...

I was definitely thinking a pair of Tekton Mini Lore for speakers. No doubt the NAD will sound much better than the Onkyo, and the Onkyo does not have bass management, only a subwoofer pre out. You could step up to the NAD C326 to get a sub pre out...

An integrated amp would be a much better choice than a receiver. Can you use speakers larger than the PSB's?What is the brand/model of your turntable? What types of music and which source do you use the most?
Neutral or warm? Which do you prefer?
For what my opinion is worth, I'd say that there's no "supposed to be better." I'd go with whatever has you closing your eyes and listening to the music rather than the equipment.Very good answer, Tonyangel.Neutral or warm? Neither, I prefer natur...
How to amplify four 'front- speakers
I agree the Adcom will work, however you must keep the "protection" on when using both pairs of speakers, or the load on the amp will be 2.7 ohms as mentioned in the first response. This could eventually result in damage to the Sony. Here is anoth...
a crazy free audiophile tweak
Nonoise, I believe you are correct that the first one is for near field listening, and the second one is just for field listening.

Jimbreit, thanks for sharing the additional info for your system setup. One problem you have is not using the spikes on the speakers. Using the spikes will definitely tighten the bass. Read the section, “Solid Footing” in your speakers manual here...

There is no doubt that opinions about damping factor will vary. In the past, I did believe that a very high damping factor would be beneficial to control the bass, however, now I think these high specifications will have very little, if anything, ...
How can a 30 watt, 28 year old amp sound more
Bokfudo, since the NAD has pre out and main in, you could try pre out from the NAD to the other amp, and also, the other preamp to main in on the NAD. This would help determine if the difference is really the amp. It may be the preamp.

Rogue's website shows the Sphinx with a variable output, and states it is for subwoofer or biamping. Just add a Medusa power amp @ 200 WPC.
