The New Cream re-issues Sound-wise, Fresh Cream is one of my least favorite albums, all-time. I'd love to find out that someone has improved it. The material is great but the sound just isn't there to back it up IMO.
Odd rock trivia-Who knew? I only found out about the Ed King story in the last few years. I knew about him from SAC but had not known he was in Skynyrd. I had the first two SAC LPs and saw them live once. They were good.It does seem as if Derek and the Dominos would have b...
Why Don't More People Love Audio? I have a friend who was all about McIntosh equipment with a Thorens TT in the 70's. More recently he was fine with a BOSE Wave radio/CD combo that unnerved me to no end. I'm happy to say he's now into high-rez files, headphone amps and 4-figure ph...
And Clapton Didn't Even Know That may be true--however, the music discussed here is from the 60s. His addiction was in the 70s.
And Clapton Didn't Even Know Oops, sorry Marty--I didn't read subsequent posts before re-posting!
And Clapton Didn't Even Know Marty, McVie is on the cover and on the record: The band on this album includes Mayall on piano, Hammond organ, harmonica and most vocals; bassist John McVie; drummer Hughie Flint; and Clapton. Augmenting the band on this album was a horn section ...
And Clapton Didn't Even Know Um...McVie also played in the Bluesbreakers with Clapton, no?
And Clapton Didn't Even Know I'll have to listen to Change of the Century again to fully appreciate this. I know Cream's live playing pretty well and I think they had few equals--probably none in their time. A few years later the Mahavishnu Orchestra kicked up a similar amoun...
Beautiful Classical Smaller Pieces, duo, trio, etc Shostakovich string qt. #8--powerful stuff with some moments of beauty, albeit ominous
Which do you feel ... The Beatles: A Hard Day's Night--easily one of their very best but never mentioned.
Beautiful Classical Smaller Pieces, duo, trio, etc The Julian (Bream) and John (Williams) guitar duo albums are great (Assad Bros. duo also excellent). Violin/Piano: I like the Prokofiev Sonata #2 (originally flute) and the Saint-Saens Sonata #1.String Quartets: Debussy or Ravel (Guarneri has a fa...
Bob Weir documentary on Netflix Watched "The Other One" (Weir) the other day--nicely done. A good look at the man and little bit different perspective on the band.
Who is your overall favorite guitarist? I have to say, for all his obvious talent I see nothing remarkable about Bonamassa. He's been a head-scratcher so far for me. Can someone tell me what I'm missing?
Bob Weir documentary on Netflix Well, I agree with Bdp24 that the Beach Boys and the Band were great live. I think the Band's first two LP's stand up to anything done in that era.I've got the Weir doc on my list, hope to see it soon. The Muscle Shoals film is definitely worth th...
Is Vinyl Worth It So, it's okay to say vinyl beats digital but it's ludicrous to say digital beats vinyl? |
