Inexpensive MM Cartridge
Sumiko Pearl for around 125 bucks...astonishingly good.
Ceramic fuses
The vast majority of audiophiles don't use pricey fuses, nor do manufacturers of audio gear...if $150 fuses (or any fuses beyond stock items like those from Littelfuse) made any difference they would be in everything...they're not.
Speaker upgrade for classical music
"Music Style Specific" speakers should be avoided, or at least the idea of such should be ignored as ANY good speaker will reproduce whatever you put into it regardless of music genre. Great for classical will be great for Death Metal, Jazz, or Mu...
Recommendation for a replacement speaker cable
AQ Type 8 has served me well for years...very high quality copper solid core and relatively inexpensive.
McIntosh fuse changeout to make better sound
That's the question I often ask when this nonsense pops up...if magic fuses provided even a fraction of the benefits claimed by bloviating posters offering hyperbole laden claims these things would garner universal acceptance and be used by every ...
New Synergistic Research Record Mat
Michael Fremer did a review of SR's PHT (Transducer? Not by definition.) and said was great...and seems to have never mentioned it again in a turntable review or any other review or list of components he uses, or in his tour of his system.
McIntosh fuse changeout to make better sound
For marketing purposes, it's a great idea to produce a product that claims efficacy and back it up with hyperbole with a qualifier like "if you can't hear a difference you or your system is/are inadequate somehow." The fact that ridiculously expen...
DAC finalist please help
I recently bought a Schiit Bifrost...a future proof upgradeable great sounding multi-bit Mike Moffat DAC for 700 bucks.
McIntosh fuse changeout to make better sound
I did a thorough test of SR fuses a few years ago and they made zero difference except when they blew...zero...which makes sense as they're FUSES. Otherwise hey, they're great...*yawn*...
Rockport Atria II or Magico A5
If you're serious, you really need to buy both so you can A/B them for a couple of months to insure break-in...sure, this requires a decent hand truck and good audio memory,  but it can be made easier by installing a set of dual small guage rail t...
McIntosh fuse changeout to make better sound
I prefer a "Methode Champenoise" approach to gravitational influences on fuse performance which simply requires giving every fuse (every one...open that lid...get in there) in your system a quarter turn at least once a day. If you don't at least t...
How eclectic is your taste in music?
All Mumblecore all the time.
Is Modern Jazz an Oxymoron?
Note that modern jazz...whatever it is...is relatively unpopular and always has been, and it's 95% of what I listen to. It rates just below children's music and maybe above polka. Luckily I have managed to find a LOT of "newer" stuff that is aston...
Does Power Cord Require Burn-In To Sound Good?
There's a serious issue here that few even want to address...what about cables that sound better BEFORE they burn-in. What then? Huh? HUH?? You just spent $5400 on a big ol' power cable and it just gets worse every day...cellos lose their cellness...
Are all of these NOS tube inventories real? How have we not consumed them already?
Note that new tubes, or "currently manufactured tubes" for those who are seemingly confused about what NOS actually means, make up a lot of tube stock (not to be confused with "tube socks"), especially guitar and bass amps (of which I am certain u...
