Audible Illusions L2 or Audio Research LS16MKII?

Has anybody compared either of these 2 products, or similar products within these two manufacturer's lines? I'm looking for a very detailed tube preamp, with good bass response, in black finish, with a remote. I don't have either of these two preamps available for audition in my area, so any suggestions would be welcomed.
