The tweeter in my 802D speaker has quit working. Can anyone tell me what the procedure is to diagnose the tweeter, or whether there is something else at fault? The tweeter itself is very expensive, and would like to isolate it before I buy a replacement. My dealer is 300 miles away, so I'd like to do whatever I can myself first. Thanks!!!
Kal, I'm a step ahead of you. Thanks for the reply. I found out how simple it is to swap the tweeters, and traded out with one of my 803Ds from my surround channels. It is the tweeter, and the ohmmeter confirms it. Now, is there a dealer who makes any deals on these bad boys?
"The tweeter shows an open on the ohmmeter. I'm not sure why it blew, I don't listen super loud. I'm running 500W from Wyred4sound amp."
The Diamond diaphram of these tweeters are physically very, very fragile. Just touching one can easily break it. The dealer here in town has had a couple broken by people taking off the "metal grill" and barely touching the element. So power or distortion might not be the culprit.
