Gotta mention Gabor Szabo 'Macho' - has signature BJ all over it with gypsy Gabor guitar. Like a Bob James album with Gabor playing.

Also Bob James Earl Klugh 'one on one' get regular spins.

Touch Down and the theam song to Taxi gave his career a big boost.  I'm pleased many folk's here still enjoy his music, as I do!!

I was and still are a huge fan of the Bob James CTI years with James working with Creed Taylor the wonderful producer and Rudy Van Gelder the fantastic recording engineer. Thanks for the heads up, I am a big Bob James fan.

Bob keeps putting out albums.  I've even seen his album "Espresso" get a review in Stereophile or TAS, not sure which.  He's still a little too smooth for me, though.

czarivey  ..I'm pretty aware of all of Bob James' output since 1980.  

It's just that I moved on to primarily bop, bebop, hard bop and straight-ahead jazz.

All of Bob James' output since then as a sideman and leader has been of the smooth jazz variety, and I've moved on from that 40 years ago.  Smooth jazz was where the money was at.

Any Bob James fan can spot his sound signature in a minute if he's in the session, I haven't listened to him since the 80's.

Bob James was part of so many projects since 80s that you would really listen to at least some of those whether you wanted or not or whether you knew about those or not.
