Another one gone. RIP Creed. He put out a lot of good music on his CTI label but ruined it for me by adding the heavy helping of strings, trying to find something with wider appeal than straight jazz, I guess.
Creed Taylor RIP
Not sure this was mentioned as I have just spent two weeks at the Mass General Burn center getting a skin graph. But on August 22, 2022 Creed Taylor passed away at the age of 93. He started two iconic labels Impulse and CTI. His emphasis was always on a high level of recorded sound quality. He was responsible for putting together Getz, Jobim and Jao Gilberto together which started the Bossa Nova craze in the USA.
