I head the SP40's via Nad C700... track was 'Pink Floyd -Echoes Live at Gdansk'.... and played the same on Evoke 20s ... yes there was maybe 10% more detail on the SP40...BTW Sp40 drivers look exactly like my old Audience 52... anyways for 10% mid and high improvements the bass was definitely not in the same league , rather it was rather missing compared to evoke 20. No used speakers for me... got burnt badly before as usually returns aren't allowed with used stuff and its only with passage if time that you realize issues/defect with a used speakers
Dynaudio Evoke 20
Please share your experience if you listened to the Dynaudio Evoke 20 in person.
I am a sucker for the dynamics(snare) and a wide sweet spot.
How did they perform for that ?
How would you describe the Soundstage and dynamics ?
Overall impression?
Which other speaker would you recommend in a similar price range ? (I was considering the Revel 106)
P.S: I have a large room and run a Sub as well (Integrated Via MiniDSP)

I have spent some time with the Dynaudio Evoke 20 and I have not forgotten it. It was driven both by a tube and solid state amp. To my ears, it is lovely speaker -- articulate highs, very good soundstage, intimate and accurate midrange, excellent bass. I’ve seen it used and on sale for a good price. I would strongly suggest an audition of this speaker. Clearance item, here: https://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=DYEVOKE10&variation=BLO I'd also recommend Fritz bookshelf speakers. |
