Favorite scream in rock?

Robert Palmer lets rip a tremendous, rolling scream near the end of "Sneakin' Sally." "The fact is ... rrrooOOAAAHHHHH .... JUST BEEN CAUGHT."

What's your favorite scream, shout, or yell? Other than Roger Daltrey's, of course.

F. DEEP PURPLE - "Highway Star": Machine Head - 72

I'm pretty sure that this was the song that I drove my parents crazy with while I was in high school; and, that makes perfect sense when you consider that it's a song about sex and fast cars. And, to top it off, the song features screaming guitar, bass, and keyboard solos; plus, one of the ultimate screaming lead singers in Ian Gillian. He is well known for causing parents burst into their child's bedroom and demanding to know "what is all of that screaming about?"

My throat is feeling harsh and scratchy all of a sudden.  Going to sip on some nice, soothing mint tea.

Be right back ...

Heads and shoulders above any and all of the above is Suicide's 1977 classic song Frankie Teardrop.

Play at maximum volume

And to reassure those who feel disoriented outside the genre boundaries of boomer rock, Bruce Springsteen did cite Frankie Teardrop as an inspiration on his album Nebraska. Enjoy!!

Screamin' Jay Hawkins has to be one of the best. John Lennon on Plastic Ono Band, Well, Well, Well, John was going through scream therapy at the time.

Rob Halford would be my choice as mentioned above. Who can possibly scream any better?

"What's your favorite scream, shout, or yell? Other than Roger Daltrey's, of course."

Reading comprehension, people.

Reading comprehension.

"Stand Up And Shout", Steel Dragon from the film Rock Star - Miljenko Matijevic supplied most all of the vocals. Big voice for sure.

How about Johnny Winter on Muddy Water’s Hard Again Album? Mannish Boy cut & others. Turn that up loud on a good, powerful system & you’ve got some real blues fun!

So many good ones!

Meadowman hit what I first thought of, Rob Halford. Victim of Changes on Unleashed in the East!

@forestg

On a related note, I would have to include Edgar's screams on "You Were My Light" on the first White Trash album.

If I must say, one of the most underrated albums ever.

Rob Halford (Judas Priest) -- The Sentinel

Dude has an insane quasar grade metal voice.

Awesome thread. So many great screams/screamers listed here. I need to add one from my youth. Ted Nugent. He was a consummate screamer back in the day - check out Double Live Gonzo. Great example is the track Motor City Madman. If you ever saw him back in the mid 70’s, his shows were a skull-splitting loud, "energetic" relentless assault on the crowd to say the least...

He lets out quite a few screams in this 10+ minute ditty, (3:10 mark, 5:08, 5:45 for example), but the crazy one lead-up starts around the 7:36 mark. If you don’t want to play the whole song, play it from there and let it ride. 8:10 mark or so is the one.

So, with that context, turn this one up and let ’er rip!

Honorable mention for Bon Scott's scream at the very end of AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap".
