Forced into Near Field Listening - which ProAc stand mount?

Go with the D48s They are the same width as the D2s and with the D2s on their stands the same height. The D48s have a better tweeter and will have lower distortion levels at any given volume. They are also not ported which I think is an advantage. The D20s are actually narrower than the D2s. But of all the speakers in the Response line the D48s are likely to sound the best. 

Tablettes or maybe the 1sc (not in current production) 

The Response DB1’s are very nice. I’ve had them for a year now and I’m very happy with them.  Very musical and sound good at modest volume. I usually listen in the 65 to 80 (max.) dB range. 

Downsized from the Response 5’s. Same house sound, but a bit more updated and refined. You probably can’t go wrong with the D2,s as well. 

I REALLY liked the Tablette Anniversary in my brief ownership of them.
Very dynamic and vivid presentation, maybe a little coloured at the top end.
However I think would be well suited to the YBA.

They could certainly sing loud too if you needed them to.

Re D48's, I'd love to have them but well above budget and I think a stand mount will be a more pleasing look for the wife. The new digs are prairie style and vertical columns on the stands would fit fairly well. Thanks for the opinions.

Hi Johnny, the house is an old prairie style, rooms blend into one another creating what is essentially a 12 x 75 open floor plan. The listening area is at the front of the house, and is 12 x 15. D-15’s are placed just into a windowed bay area, with chairs for three. Our listening is not the usual as it is almost always with at least two, sometimes three people. Only one chair is on axis, the other two are closer to one speaker than the other in a triangle. Given the set-up each listener is at most 36” from a speaker, hence my concern about performance at low volume levels. Music runs from soundtracks (LaLa land/Silver Linings Playbook) thru Americana (AKUS/Carolina Chocolate Drops) to Alabama Shakes to John Hiatt/Prine with some Sacd’s thrown in of all genres. I’m thinking monitors would blend into the prairie style better than the big box floorstander and newer designed monitors might provide a better “up close” musical presentation than my D-15’s. The floor is wood with a basement underneath  - no concrete.  Appreciate your thoughts. 

The ProacTabette 10 series is sealed and able to be used very close to the wall behind it.This allows for a great power response, it's a very inert tight cabinet with lighter faster drivers that will also seem clearer while meeting your lower volume expectations and seating being closer while still having all of that fantastic Proac sound. Best,JohnnyR
