Help with iFi Zen Stream and mconnect HD

I was playing Qobuz over Wi-Fi through mconnect HD on my Zen Stream (ZS) and it was fine until I tried to use another iPad and I lost my connection.  Couldn’t reestablish the connection so I reset the ZS but still didn’t work, even with the original iPad I was using.  I can get up to the point of getting an internet connection and the white light being lit, but when I go back into mconnect HD after connecting the ZS to my Wi-Fi it doesn’t show up as an option in the Local Server area.  I think that’s the problem, so does anyone know what I can do to get mconnect HD to recognize my ZS?  I love this sh*t.  Not.  Thanks for any thoughts, and yes I’ve reached out to both iFi (horrible customer support BTW) and mconnect but not holding my breath.

While the iFi Stream app is generally not good for much else than maintenance issues the Web Radio function is actually pretty good and includes a number of FLAC stations.  Since mConnect doesn't have a radio function it keeps you from having to use Airplay for Internet Radio.  Since the iFi app is just stripped down Volumio the new Volumio 3.0 paid version should work with the Zen Stream and it is a full function app.

If you don't get it to work the only other suggestion if it doesn't cause "domestic" issues it to shut everything down all the way back to and including the router and the re-boot each piece in order going forward from the router after the previous piece is fully online.  That should re-set the network and allow the Zen Stream and iPad to see each other again.

@jackd The ifi.local site is a bit of a bugger.  I found that once I connect the Zen Stream to Wi-Fi on my iPad I can then go back to ifi.local and it actually works.  iFi has some work to do.

Go back to ifi local and make sure the "hot spot" is not shown as on. I've never been able to get the ifi.local site to work so I resorted to using the iFi app instead.  It's pretty obvious that the iPad is looking for another location than where your router has put the Zen Stream.

@jackd Thanks for the suggestion, and I think you’re probably on to something with the IP address thing as mconnect is clearly not recognizing the ZS for some reason.  There is no iFi app involved, only the mconnect HD app and http://ifi.local site.  I got the ZS on the network in my iPad Wi-Fi settings, then I connected it on the ifi.local local site, turned the iPad off and back on and no dice.  Not sure what to do here, and it’s really, really frustrating.

Once you've got the Zen Stream back on the network using the iFi app then shut the iPad completely off, wait a few minutes and turn it back on.  Then let mConnect look for the Zen Stream again.  It is likely on a different IP address then when it was used the previous time.

Hope you are on the same "wifi" network on both the ipad and the ZS. Sometimes, depending on the nodes available, components can automatically switch networks. Good luck.
