Preamp for Parasound A21+ with Sonus Faber Venere 3.0 speakers

Looking for reasonable preamp for Parasound A21+ with Sonus Faber Venere 3.0 speakers. I was thinking about Parasound P6 preamp.

romam901

you may want a tube preamp.

The main issue with the P6 is that it has a zillion features. Are you planning to use them, such as the phono in, sub out, crossover, balanced in and out, etc. It's more like a swiss army knife preamp and not a fine "Wüsthof"

@jdub39 The Holo does not have anything related to HT. It is a pure 2 channel preamp.

BTW - I heard the new 791 SimAudio preamp last week. It was connected to the 761 amp and Paradigm Persona 9H speakers.

I think my Holo Serene and Schitt Yggi+ OG DAC are better than the much more expensive 791. Though the 791 was great and simple (1 box). I did love the 761 amp and will be looking to get that as one of my 2 long -term amps (the other being the CODA #16 amp).

@yyzsantabarbara  Does the Holo Audio Serene have an HT Bypass? and is the display defeat able? I'm also considering a Sim audio Moon 740p, currently using a Musical Fidelity Ms8.

I owned the A21+ and liked it. I found it a bit warm, so I used the low-cost neutral Benchmark LA4 preamp with it and thought it was a great combo. They have a 30-day home trial.

If you want a bit more warmth than the LA4, then my other preamp, the Holo Audio Serene would work nicely with the A21+. I use the Serene today with the CODA #16, which shares some sonic character with the A21+.

My third preamp is also rather good but very warm sounding and has no remote control. It is the new Class A Schitt Mjolnir v3. I like my other 2 preamps more, but the Mjolnir is surprisingly good.

All 3 suggestions can be found from $1300-$3300.

Get a Schiit Freya +...a superb preamp that's more fun than most anything else out there...defeatable tubes, inputs and outputs galore. I use mine (older version) with NOS GE 6SN7GTB tubes. Class A...you won't regret it.

1)I assume your budget is around that of the P6 ($2000). Do you need all the functions provided by it?

2)Would you consider a used unit?

3)Would you consider a tube preamp?

If answer to 1 is yes and to 2and 3 is no then go for the P6. Otherwise you are open to far more options.

I have an A23+ I originally used with a Rotel preamp. I got a great deal on a new P5 from Parasound and grabbed it, assuming it would be a great match. To my dismay, it took the life out of my system. I was surprised but after a couple of weeks comparing, it went up for sale.

I eventually got two other preamps, a Schiit Kara and an LTA MicroZotl MZ2. Both sound great and restored the transparency the P5 killed. Maybe the P6 is better.

Don't want to waste anyone time but I am new at this. But thanks to everyone who gave me the advice I needed.

Oh boy, are you are a kindergarten teacher or everyone’s mother. No one asks YOU to be spending of your precious time.

There is enough information on what OP is looking at. Even specific model.

@OP - Yeah, I would first stick with the same manufacturer if generally like your amp sound. Unless, of course, you are looking to change sound in some way.

You just asked basically this same question a few days ago, and yet again you don’t bother to give any pertinent information whatsoever to be able to make any kind of a meaningful recommendation.  So in an effort to hopefully stop you from wasting anyone else’s time and/or maybe posting this same question a third time I’ll make a recommendation on the level this deserves and just say sure, knock yourself out and buy the P6.  🙄
