If you can find a Dynaudio Excite X14, that is a great choice. Unlike many Dyn’s, it is easier to drive than most (better efficiency, less impedance swing). They were available for $800 or $900 as of a few months ago.
I like Spendor best, but their bookshelfs go for about $1700 new. Used always a possibility or old clearance. I picked up Spendor SA1 mini monitors new from Audiogon seller for around $1300 within last six months. Good luck.
If I may, how is the Marantz 7000n working out? It’s a lot of features for the $1k cost, and I’ve liked the recent Marantz sound. Heos is solid in my experience, and I like how the amplification et al. sounds in Marantz AVRs in general, so I’m assuming this 2 ch unit would be good also.
