The big Gensis are back, but what about Arion?

Noteworthy to me in Stereophile is the release of the Genesis Tribute speakers.  $125K invocations of the IRS, minus the bass towers.

Honestly though before I shelled out that much money I'd check out the Arion Apollo speakers first. The low crossover point AMTs they are using solves all of the problems of the original IRS.

Eliminating the bass towers is a very significant change. Other updates aside, can it really even be considered the same speaker system? I don't think so.

I think the Tributes are worth it because the side panels evoke a 1970s basement apartment feel to them. Pure class.

I know the Arion speakers well. They are a stunning achievement. Find another Heil type driver combo that can go down to 125 Hz and are efficient. They sound great and are incredibly adjustable for both balance and room. This is the type of product that deserves much more attention than it gets.

Genesis tribute speakers ? It’s the Prime I’m after, then you’ve the Arnie Nudell look with an Orchestra back up ! Just imagine 1200 lbs Per side, with a system total 24 x 12” woofers. So I need a bigger room again, its my dream ! Lol

Honestly what I think the bomb would be Arion in-wall speakers.  Zero floor space line sources.

Whichever you choose, Linestage speakers rule, as long as you have the space to let them breathe .Some of the best I heard at Axpona were linestages.  They beat some of the megabuck speakers I heard.

Erik, Our technology lends itself very well to an in-wall application. We are currently having discussions about adding that option to our lineup. We have tried it and it works really well.  As "they" say "watch this space".

@arion

I figured, forgive me for trolling you. 🤣

It's all good. I feel very fortunate and never take for granted that I get to design and manufacture audio equipment and contribute to our industry. Life is good.

I immediately bookmarked these when I first learned of them a couple weeks ago, and I don’t do that a lot.  The three best systems I’ve ever heard involved Nola, Genesis, and Pipedream speakers, all of which were tall, line-array designs. If these speakers deliver a similar-type performance I think they’re a huge bargain.  Might have a tough time passing the WAF test tho, ehem.
