What's wrong with this CD?

I have a few CDs where small spots of the aluminum is missing. These are small and irregular shapes. Does anyone know, is this a manufacturing fault or is the CD deteriorating? Thanks

@tpreaves I did. From what I read and the photos I saw on line didn't look like what I see on my disc. It's only about the size of a pencil tip where the aluminum is missing.

I have been using CD's since they first came out and don't have any rot.  I think it's a myth.

They are called "pinholes" and are more likely a manufacturing defect.  The very few CD's of mine that I have seen this on play fine as the data correction in the cd player can usually fill in these gaps.
