I am looking forward to that one.
Whole Lotta Led
My Zeppelin stampers dont get played much these days.
In fact, the entire genre is collecting dust.
I am however, looking forward to seeing this

IMAX- should be a fun watch
"Saw them twice. Pure magic" tony1954- I missed the LAST opportunity in 1977 when the might Zep played 6 sold out nights at the LA Forum in SoCal. Face value of tickets were somewhere between $7-20 bucks with scalper prices around $50+. Based on today's valuation that around $261. That's a nosebleed furthest away from stage these days for a "top act" A most difficult decision-to pick the coolest Jimmy: Air guitar Jimmy https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LnyY3rJoaZ4 Or How a proper intro is played? Rolling Stone reviewers consistently eviscerated their early albums but they were unstoppable. LedZep II was unlike anything else at the time, so much so that the MC at a James Gang concert in Memphis stepped up to announce the playing at midnight of their third album, which really threw the hard rock crowd somewhat of a curve. Saw them in ‘74, they burned the coliseum down, but only nostalgia lasts forever. |
My little Honolulu blues band opened for them in 1969 (second half of their first tour). Talked to Page about his Les Paul just before they went on (he showed me a recent fingerboard ding) they had so much amazing energy then, somewhat less later likely due to Page's chemical issues. Fun after party (!). |
I first saw them headline the first night of the Laurel Pop Festival in Laurel, MD in the summer of '69; to say that blew me away would be an understatement. Saw them in Syracuse in the early 70's and Oakland in '77, but I also went to a couple of Page/Plant tour shows, and I liked those better than LZ; much tighter playing... |
@tablejockey - interesting you say that, because I did go see Jimi at Baltimore Civic Center on Mother's Day of 1969..... |
I've mentioned this before so forgive me, but I first laid eyes and ears on Hendrix at a 1967 Santa Barbara show (I was visiting from Honolulu) with Moby Grape and Tim Buckley...Buckly opened, Grape closed. My 16 year old mind was blown and remains so. My friend who was with me got the tix because we were Buckley fans...At the end of his set Hendrix tossed his Strat up over his amp ripping through the large light show screen (must have been paper, and they must have cleared people out of the way) and crashing down backstage...yay...Grape, who closed the show, were also astonishing. |
