This fact in no way means that it is the case for everyone; and critical thinking and analysis can, in fact, have a profound impact on an individual's emotional reaction to art (and many other things). Some individuals are fearful of and feel threatened by the idea that there are things that they don't know or understand, and feel comfort and security in the idea that what they do know and understand is the only thing of value; like the old folks in MS.
