Where should the better of two sets of cables go?

In this particular case, listening and experimentation are the only good guides.

+1 @erik_squires   I would suspect the better cable should be coming out of the VPI because you are passing along a millivolt signal, already low in level so you don't want to lose or corrupt it.

Thanks Guys From what I gather here it sounds like a set of dedicated phono cables would be my best bet? I appreciate all of your input and like Erik says I should experiment and see whats works best. Al I since upgraded to a 20X2, you all know the upgrade fever when it strikes!!!

The empirical method is the way to determine this. Do the experiment.

The "best sound" is obtained by YOU trying them in both spots and letting your ears do the judging. Very simple. No one here can help with that.
