Miracles in Audio, by luck, by good choices,by design or by tweaking...

I owned a low cost headphone for many years, the Fostex TH7B, first version( a new one close version exist Fostex TH7BK), semi-open headphone...I was never completely satisfied by any headphones I ever owned: Hifiman 400, Stax basic lamda, Stax 5 gold,Akg 340,Akg 701, beyerdynamic 990, and T150... Because in each of them with all their qualities I never listen to at the same times, a confortable headphone with natural timbre and voicing, with a good imaging and a realistic soundstage(not too close to my ears)...


For the last days I tweaked this Fostex, to damp his internal resonance I used sorbothane, I put some shungite stones at the exterior part of the cups and I use some Herkimer diamond in the interior pads( 3 at 120 degree) … Now this low cost headphones crush all my others if I sum all his qualities... For example his mids and voicing cannot beat the AKG 340 but among all my other headphones it is the best that is near that mids and it is more confortable, and with longer cable than the 340...His imaging is better and more realistic than the 340 etc etc...It is the same if I compare with the others...


His most important qualities is natural timbre and clear imaging,very precise pinned point accuracy and natural, so clear it crush for that ALL the others to dust...In the French audio circle the reviews were more than very positive few years ago...Diapason d’or and choc Classica...I am not the only one impressed buy the ratio quality/price... But remember that thesae reviewers dont tweak their headphone...The difference between before and after the tweaks are staggering...


Yes Miracles happens in Audio: cost is under 100 American dollars... Few years ago they cost me 50 bucks new... I never dreamed that I will go back to headphones...

Here 2 photos of my S.G. modified and cabled to the grid of stones:

These 2 are USB powered + 2 shungite pyramids lifted on top of them without touching the embedded antennas of the S.G. the stones are Black Tourmaline+ Herkimer Diamond and Kambaba Jasper +Herkimer

No idea how this works but very cool. A picture is worth a thousand words.

I think you’ve scared off GK who seems to be mostly just bluster, comedy and insults when it comes to actually offering any evidence that he he is not just lazily about all talk and callously selling other peoples junk for a premium to make a few bucks.

I simply dont like upsetting anybody, and GK is funny and interesting that’s all...Now back to the regular course...

It is looking complex and this is very simple and trust me astounding...But I have to figure all that myself, nobody said to me what to do...I was only inspire by advertisement by top audiophile company that present products with crystals without giving any details at all...Patent secrecy for sure...But the idea at the basis of that is simple and trials and errors was the way... My stones grid included these S.G. and are connected to them but the grid included many stones all around my room and gear...Even in the basement where I clean the central electrical panel...


The final result revealed a musical experience without comparison with the same gear I own in the same room but without any stones grid... In audio what you buy is LESS important than what you make of it... No company will ever said that to you ...They want you to pay for a new costly piece of audio that’s all, and this new piece need no cleaning, no treatment, nothing, this new piece they said is perfect without anything to add... : ) 
 My experience is totally contrary to these customer marketing business, what you will buy, if it is already good, nevermind the price, will IMPROVE greatly ONLY if you clean and treat all the electrical grid, the acoustic grid, and controls vibrations, and treat the room etc … My actual gear is TOTL for cheap cost...

I have a geology background and have actually taught mineralogy and petrology (also paleontology) labs as a university teaching assistant in a past life. So I am not an expert but know something about minerals and their crystal structure. Applications in audio, is not something taught anywhere TTBOMK. It’s mostly hearsay with little to substantiate claims. If you find something that works and can demonstrate and document it quantifying how and why, that would be something. Good luck!

Simple task for 2 ears:

Place 2 chunks of shungite+tourmaline on a conditioner, a power supply or on the central electrical panel and called that an audio geological experiment...That will make your day...

Simple to begins with, no need to make a complex grid to gain results audible immediately and an improvement at low cost...Some people will pay thousand of bucks for a less spectacular improvement in cables and other products...

Here I dont want to argue with sceptic, it is too simple to take a stone and put it somewhere...I can only say to you what stones will give better results after my own experiment thats all...


Like all that is around us, stones are marvellous miracles, unseen by most...


By the way I am more a poet and philosopher than a scientist, I only dream about what I cannot afford: my dream musical audio system...I have it now thanks to my reading and experiments...my system with all headphones, speakers,dac,amp, cost me  under 1000 bucks but sound like 10,000 bucks...Listening music is my medical treatment and relaxing habit...
