After speaking to Paul at TRL I am very curious to hear from those who own this unit what improvements do you hear with the player before and after the mod.
The SA-14 sounds weak in the bass and has no dynamics in comparison to some players like the Sony Scd-1 in stock form. Has anyone compared the TRL Sa-14 to the Sony Scd-1?
There are a couple more people I have emailed that are moving up to the SA-14 TRL from the 2000es TRL. I hope to hear from them soon. My unit has 235 hours of time and counting towards 300 hours. I expect the sound to keep improving and perhaps slow a bit when it hits 500 hours. You may wonder why its taking that long. The reason is I turn the unit completely off for one day so things settle in.
I have yet to hear anyone who has the TRL Marantz SA-11 come forward with how it compares to the Marantz SA-14 TRL. Any takers?
I don't own a SA-14 I have the TRL Sony 2000es. A friend of mine owned one but sold it to another Audiogonner who sent it on to Paul at TRL. I may look at a TRL SA-14 in a few months but for now I love my 2000es.
La45 - ooops. Sorry, I was confused, I thought you got a 14. Which ever TRL unit you own, isn't it nice to think about the music you hear, instead of the gear that's playing it. Did you get the SACD's from Fidelis Records? Nice recordings - Very tasty.
