Network player control apps

Speaking only of control apps: I am between Lumin and Aurender. These have different features, so other variables are involved, but let's ignore those since I can make either work in my system. To date I have tried only Cambridge Connect, which I found satisfactory. As between Lumin and Aurender, which control app do users prefer, and why? (My uses would be only Tidal, Qobuz, and iTunes library for rarities not available on streaming services). Advance thanks.

Hello hickamore,

I own the Lumin D2 dac/streamer and like the sound quality as well as the included Lumin app that I run on an iPad as a GUI and wireless wi-fi attached remote controller.  I don't utilize the Roon or MQA functionality but I do subscribe toTidal and enjoy the convenience of the Lumin app  simply having an icon to tap on for connection.
Sorry, I've never used Aurender so I can't compare and contrast.  My previous hi-rez computer audio system was a downloaded version of JRiver media center software on my wi-fi connected laptop acting as the GUI and remote control, Oppo 105 serving as the player/dac and 2 TB Synology hard drive NAS serving as the storage device, all communicating and controlled via wi-fi and through JRiver.
The Lumin app is actually quite good and reminds me of a simplified JRiver app, including very similar mega data acquisition through the internet and music file sortation options/functionality.
Thanks, noble 100. If the Lumin app with iPad control is functional, then my my focus shifts to what must I spend on an outboard DAC to significantly better the dual Wolfsons in the D2. Aurender forces you to buy the DAC up front, so think I will experiment with Lumin vs. Cambridge before trying Lumin front end into (say) Gungnir. Will likely have questions about that in a month or two.
