DSD vs PCM .. Truth or Myth

Just been reading this article which raises a lot of points and questions.

I found it interesting at least.

Just think if SACD had been dsd128 and 5 bit? Might have been a lot more successful?

Lots of valuable information on the topic of DSD editing here

Interestingly it seems their own view is similar to my own experience in that I prefer listening to PCM recordings upsampled to DSD/128 via my dCS Vivaldi stack over the native, or upsampled, PCM.
Having read the article about the Mystique R2R Ladder DAC I think I will stay with my MSB Platinum. It has a buffer clock to get the jitter down and upgraded R@R ladders I put in. For 5 channel SACD there is no other choice but a player with 5 or 7 analog RCA connectors. My OPPO NuForce will do for the foreseeable future because the only 4k opera discs are not offered with 10 bit video resolution and will be no better than blue ray on a Vizio screen which sharpens to 4k. This thread has settled things for me and I am thankful it was published here.
I can play files on my laptop over the MSB Platinum if I want so I need not spend a few thousand on a music server which is limited to 2 channels and appropriate for services with monthly subscription fees.
wasn't DSD originally developed as a digital Archive file format to archive digital masters? I could have swore I read that in Mix or Sound on Sound magazine a few years back.

Yes think I remember something like that, designed so PCM original masters "were" to be converted for storage space reasons? Thank god, it never happened where the original PCM versions could have been deleted.? What a catastrophe that would have been.

Just remember this from Mojo Music.
" When a PCM file is played on a native DSD single-bit DS converter, the single-bit DAC chip has to convert the PCM to DSD in real-time. This is one of the major reasons people claim DSD sounds better than PCM, when in fact, it is just that the chip in most modern single-bit DACs do a poor job of decoding PCM."
