Collective letter s to Stereophile

Why Stereophile magazine reviews (favors) only certain manufacturers? Mostly are already big corporations and established themselves in audio arena. Cary (almost every amp reviewed)Krell even get spotlight for the first speakers they ever made, that's FAIR! Mark Levinson and CJ same Musical Fidelity, B&W every single speaker, so as Revel and Dunlavy and Thiel to a certain degree but still in the spotlight. Ocasionaly one or two obscure companies make debut on the pages (usually scapegoats for the bad reviews). Where are the loudspeaker companies, here in the North America, that already established themselves as competative and superb performers? Meadowlark Audio, Coincident, Talon, AVALON, Tyler, Nova etc..! How about Spendor, Herbeth, Living Voice from UK, JM from France and many many more that do not even get mentioned?

I read this kind of stuff all the time, even in Stereophile's letter column. Geese, just don't buy it if you don't like it, for crying out loud.

To scan this thread is to backflash on why I let me Stereophile sub lapse so many years ago.    

The good news is it appears limomangus has finally figured out what is going on and has stopped replying to 20 year old posts. For all the many faults at least that never happens with on dead tree magazines.

I like the mag and happily subscribe. It is what it is. The audio world would be a little more lonely without it.

A magazine review is a small piece of the puzzle when I am considering a change in my system. IMO a much more valuable resource is a forum such as Audiogon where I can read experiences from users of the equipment I am contemplating to purchase.

Someone back in 2002 suggested listening to opinions here instead. LMAO! And I think he was serious.
