I upgraded my REF6 to a REF6SE. It went back to ARC just before the pandemic and then I moved, so i went 11 months between hearing the two, and the system is in an entirely different room. That said, the system is clearly more resolving now. It is much easier to hear differences between regular and inverse phase of many recordings. That said, the REF6 is wonderful and a strategy of buying a used one (I did BTW) and then upgrading it at a later date, particularly when new tubes are going to be needed, is a very practical option.
Anybody have strong opinions about the ARC ref 6 versus the ref 6SE?
I’ve been reading that the 6 has a warmer richer more holographic soundstage compared to the 6SE.
Has anybody else found this to be true?
Do any of you out there prefer the 6 to the 6SE?
I know a lot has been written but it is all a bit confusing
Thanks for any of your thoughts and opinions.
