New Synergistic Product: Tuning Discs

I was lucky enough to be asked to try out a prototype of a new Synergistic Research product. For now, I think they are calling it a Tuning disc.

What it looks like is a small wafer (smaller than a dime and is very thin). They are either in gold or purple tops and are attached using some tacking substance. I placed 2 on top of my Shunyata Sigma V2 interconnects.

I wasn’t expecting much but whoa, did these things work! First, I tried the purple on my interconnects and boy did the soundstage widen with lots of air.

Then I tried the gold discs and though the sound stage shrunk perhaps a little but the naturalness of the music was fantastic!

Hard to believe that these things work so well, I am really impressed.

It is difficult to check these things out when not on the market yet, absolutely. Which makes the naysayers look even dumber.

And the marketing end of discussing it here, is nothing new. Many, many products are sent out for review and then discussed on this forum.

The difference is that Ted is directly participating in the discussion. There was a recent post discussing the new Class D amps from Atmasphere. Ralph chimed in to answer questions, which is as it should be. It’s a rare thing to have direct access to the designer of something and have them answer questions.

I didn’t see the public outrage over that I am seeing here.

Wonder why that is…

Guess the haters just love to hate. Especially when it’s something they know nothing about, right?

At it’s core, what is marketing at its best? It’s a tool to help educate the public on potential benefits of a given product.

But, when people fail to accept that something might work, they let their ignorance fuel their anger.

Man, some of you guys are pretty rough in your comments.

Yes, I was asked to try some of the prototypes, and I accepted. I have always been a tweaker and love a good experiment.

I’m sure if you look through my history of posts you will find that I post things I like and those I don’t. You could say I am an equal opportunity critique.

I am not one of those paid reviewers, and to me, this is the best way to inform others of products that should be tried. That is: from actual audiogon experienced members.

I get it that there are some who try to use this forum for their financial gain. I am not one of those!

As I have stated now a few times. Try them, or don’t, I don’t care.

Not interested in mucking with my electromagnetic fields for reasons unknown so...

More power to those who are.

I am sorry that the product is not yet available. I guess try it if you want to when you can?

What a shame that we still see unscientific rubbish still populating what should be a clean and honest audio enthusiasts forum.

That you can read reports here of products you’ve never tried or of which you are leery suggests to me that this is a "clean and honest" forum, rather than the opposite as you suggest. Of course, some people seek only confirmation of their beliefs.

There should be no product advertising here.

You might want to take that up with the moderators. There’s no explicit ban on advertising in any of the forum rules although, as a practical matter, there are limits.
