@bkeske  What condition is your "Dark Horse" in?  By that, I mean any peculiar surface noise?

My "Living In The Material World" is awful.  Terrible surface noise which is evident throughout the record on both sides.  The record was allegedly pressed at Capitol in Jacksonville, IL.  Generally, they do a pretty good job.  But on this release, early '73 according to Discogs, they used some kind of mold release agent that won't come off.  It's visible from the matrix throughout the grooves to the edges of the record on both sides.  I've tried several surfactant treatments and 3 trips through the Degritter to no avail.

I compare this with John Lennon's "Walls and Bridges" plus the Red and Blue Beatles double LP compilations both from the 1973/74 era and pressed at Capitol-Jacksonville which are pristine.

@puffball08

My Dark Horse is a Jacksonville pressing as well. I think it sounds pretty good, but in terms of surface noise, well, I bought mine new when it was released, and played the hell out of it. So, many of my albums from that time have ‘user abuse’ surface noise vs pressing noise. Thus, can’t say I can blame the pressing as much as not handling my vinyl back then with the care I do today. Damn teenagers! 😁

A guilty Pop pleasure..

Foreigner - S/T debut….

I know what you mean, but I think it's a really well recorded album with some expertly crafted songs and musicianship.  Besides the hits, Starrider, Headknocker, and The Damage is Done are all great songs.
