@bigtwin yes, it isn't a first order effect. I am a physicist. I know the math. I thought a 14 ga cable would be sufficient for such a small amp. It took me 2 days to figure it out, just thinking the amp wasn't big enough. If you're in Socal, come to my house and we'll do a blind A/B test. I'll admit, I thought 10 ga power calble was overkill until this experience.
I think that it is very short but intense spikes needed for the amp to handle all that is asked of it. The average current is not the problem.
