Those that upgraded from Tekton

What did you move on to?

I think it’s time I move on from my DIs, I really like how they sound but they are just too big and opposing for my room. Would be interested in something front ported as I have a room that is wide but not deep (speakers are 8 ft away from listening position and only 1 ft from back wall).

Was thinking Cornwall IV maybe or something from Salk but those might not be an upgrade from the DI.

Up to $5k budget and prefer used. Powered by Line Magnetic LM805i

And please don’t come here just to talk crap about Tekton……….

@blkwrxwgn,

I was going to suggest Ohm speakers as well until I looked at your amps spec’s.  The Ohm 2000 is like 88db and the 3000 is 85db, I think. Not sure if you said this already, but How big is your room?  Your on the right track with the Klispch Classic speakers.  They really sound good with tubes!

All the best.

@tsushima1 would be interested to know what you own for a speaker system.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Ohms similar to Fritz are not rated high efficiency but they are relatively easy to drive. That makes a big difference. But you do have to consider amp power and speaker efficiency if you plan to go loud well. It all depends. Just do the homework and decide what to try. Only then do you know for sure.

Klipsch Heritage are high efficiency but not the easiest load. Result may be more power than expected needed there as well but probably less so with larger models. You can’t make a full range speaker small and expect to run them with few watts well. However you can make smaller speakers easier to drive which helps.

It all depends on what works for you best in terms of speaker form factor, sound, and performance I always recommend best to start with the right speakers and go from there. Especially these days with so many choices for high performance amplification without breaking the bank.

Powered subs integrated well are another very practical approach for delivering top notch full range sound when form factor of speakers otherwise is an issue.

I do own Tektons the ps 12 and the impact monitors, I both like them.Lately while iam playing music to my Andra that has graphite on them, cabinets are excellent, no distortions or ping sound that is originating from the cabinets.The quietness added to the musical satisfaction. Back to Tektons I would hope their cabinets will be built better though the price probably will go up. So If I will get rid of my Tektons , I will try magico between $6k to 7k budget used.

OP with your gear there is a listing at Agon Omega Super Alnico with sub for $2900 .
