Looking for new AV Receiver

Hi. I’m looking for help to buy a new receiver. Just bought a Sharp OLED so need to upgrade to a 4k receiver. I have now a Pioneer Elite VSX94 TXH with Martin Logan Clarity speakers, ML Vignette surrounds, ML Motion 8 center and an Emotiva X-PA2 amp. I use it for streaming: movies and video music. I am budgeted so want to keep it around $1k. All the reviews on the online stores make everything sound like junk. Hoping someone may have a good recommendation.

Thanks much, Neil

The price / performance limitation you are having is the 4k part. If you can use your TV as the source, via ARC an older generation Anthem would be great. The 520 runs around $700 on ebay

For $1k you aren't going to get much of an upgrade over what you have (unless you go used as Erik suggests).  I'd say you're probably better off saving up.

Your pioneer isn't a bad reciever.  You can take advantage of the PRE out available and add a 2 channel amp to driver your front speakers.  this should give you improved 2 channel sound as well.  However, you're still going to have trouble finding a good amp for $1k.

i've never heard huge differences in quality among the <$1k mass market avrs--i'd check out accessories4less, which has deep discounted prices on yamaha/denon and pick one that has the tech features you need.
