Record Stores NYC

Hi going to NYC for a few days.  I will have a few hours to myself when the wife is shopping and was wondering where the best stores for lps are.  I mainly listen to Classical

do a few searches, see what is near where you are staying

Plainfield, NJ, 1 hour from NYC, will you have a car?

It would be fun to meet, and I've got a bunch of used Classical, need the shelf space, selling $1.00 each! (None of the dealers that came and bought a few thousand Jazz LPs wanted Classical).

Timing: when? I'm having back surgery 5-16-23

No car. I only have a couple of hours while my wife plans to go shopping for fabrics. Otherwise we have the usual packed tourist agenda of shows, museums, and people to visit. It is later this week. I wouldn’t expect you to schlep into the city as you sound limited with your back--Good Luck with that--especially lugging records around. Another time perhaps. We usually come in around once a year, Pandemics Permitting.

We are staying on the Upper West Side, but I might head towards Lincoln Center during the Fabric Shopping Marathon, as we have tickets to the Philharmonic that night.

Thanks for that link.  I was there, many years ago

+1 for Academy Records. I lived in NYC for over a decade and in vicinity most of my life except for the last five years. Academy Records on West 18th has the best classical collection in the city by far. If you are looking for new (not used) records, also be sure to check out Rough Trade. That was still in Brooklyn when I lived there but it seems they got popular enough to move it into Manhattan.
