Best Amplifier & Speakers combo?

Just out of interest, have you hear this equipment? There are different flavors at every price point ($1K - $100K). Choosing the one that really connects with you is what is important. There is not an absolute better… like maybe which car accelerates faster.

If you get powered speakers they will be a perfect match.

Why are you limiting yourself to these two combinations?

If you want the best at a given budget, why not list all your current equipment in the virtual equipment segment of this forum and provide a budget?

What will you do with the advice that you receive?  I ask because if you do the above you will get a diversity of suggestions.  How will you go from there?  Otherwise buy either of the ones that you suggested because few people here have heard both combinations and without hearing them, what value is their opinion?

Sound quality wise, CX81 and LS50 were better rated.  However, with LS50 priced at $1600, I will add a few hundreds and go with Buchardt S400 mk ii for its more extended frequency range (79hz-28khz -> 33hz-44khz ±3 dB).  LS50 is renowned for its midrange but S400 mk ii is not far away.  S400's extended, airy top end coupled with much more weighty and articulated low end enable you to enjoy music more.  You do not need sub for S400 either.
