Cornwall iv

Ok I’m talking to myself probably but I’m excited 😆! I factory reset the Lyngdorf and started from scratch. No idea why this would have anything to do with it but I do know I’m the 2nd owner and you can get online and do all kinds of stuff to the unit. Not sure what the previous owner did. 

Anyway, after the factory reset and all new speaker setup etc I ran room perfect again…….. it’s completely night and day and BADASS! Happy guy now.

that is good to hear. Does it show you the changes it makes before and after running the correction? Do you allow full bandwidth correction or limit it to a frequency (say 200hz and lower)?  

I allowed whatever factory default allows for bandwidth correction. Not sure what that is and I’m not sure you can change that. I’ve never got on the web page and messed around with the advanced settings. It does not show what changes it makes on the unit display only a status that shows percent correction. I think what is does really well is time align everything. I left the default crossover which should be 80hz on the mains and sub. Might play with the crossover point and do another set of measurements. 
 

I have a Cronous lll  running my Cornwall 4 and was wondering if I should give a Subwoofer a try to add a bit more thump. The Klipsch Rp-1000sw is on my radar. Not sure if this is a good idea or overkill. 
 

Anyone else use a subwoofer with these speakers?

Two years in, I still love my CW IV. They’re mated with a Luxman MQ-300 via Cardas Clear Beyond in a strongly vinyl-centric system. I rotate several amp/speaker combos through this system. I got the CWs because I wanted a horn/SET option. I’m very happy with this combination.

My CW IV were good stock but reached a much higher level when, following the lead of Don Sachs in another thread, I replaced the x-over caps and resistors with V-Cap ODAM and Path Audio, respectively. I also damped the horns and woofer baskets with Dynamat and replaced the binding posts with WBT Next Gen. You don’t need to to do these things to enjoy these speakers, of course, but for me they made a big improvement.

BTW, a 300b SET is the smallest I’d recommend with them in a good-sized room. I have a nice 2a3 amp that I use in an office system. It doesn’t quite have the oomph to fill a larger space properly with the CW IV.
