I thought the Monitor Audio PL500 II would be my last speakers, but I'm looking into TAD and Vivid Audio as possible replacements.

Hmmm... Kinda maybe... Apt. living room/kitchen system so there’s that... After four + years of experimentation, Im NEAR my End Game main system. Using a Schiit Freya+ with NOS GE/Tung Sol tubes; and yes, l use the passive, differential buffer, AND differential tube modes as the mood hits. ALL sound good. Schiit Gungnir Multibit A2 Dac ( soon to be upgrade to Gungnir 2) Yamaha M-85 tuner, stupid good for not much outlay Thorens TD-125II table w Mani 2 pre (upgrading to Skoll) Sony PS-X75 table w Parks Puffin pre Sony TC-K777 Cassette (non ES first gen) Sony CDP-XE33ES CD player (as CD transport) Sony BDP-S2000ES Blu Ray/CD player (as CD transport) Sony SCD-XA5400ES (as CD transport) Harman Kardon CD990 (analog outputs) HP I7 audio optimized laptop UREI 6500 2 channel Amp (Biamped low) Excellent alone or with the below Rotel RB-990BX 2 channel amp (Biamped high) great synergy with the.. Monitor Audio Silver 5007G floorstanding speakers Acoustech PL-300 subwoofer (rarely reviewed, but does a yeomans job here for not much outlay) 1- All cables routed and raised off floor (noticably improved clarity) 2- All coax cables DO NOT sound the same! Last uprades will be a Schiit Gungnir 2 and Schiit Skoll phono pre. Then I SHOULD be done; as I REALLY do like where this system has ended up.

@coralkong the cp800 classe is a great piece gear. I owned it years ago |
@calvinj , Thanks. It's got a million options on it and it takes a while to "dial it in" like you want it, but there's very little you can't do with it. I'm a fan of Classe's stuff, though it's getting a little long in the tooth at this point. I see no reason to change it. |
@coralkong the classe cp800 brought me a lot of joy the a years I had it. |
