There are certain effects of tariffs and trade wars that are undeniable, and therefore not political. The political question is whether the negative effects of these tariffs are outweighed by a positive benefit, and I wouldn’t try to argue that either way, no one will change their mind.
it is undeniable, however, with these high tariffs and the counter measures that will be taken by our trading partners will significantly increase the cost of high-end Audio equipment. The other less talked abouteffect, but also a clear one, is that tariffs and the stock market have an inverse relationship. Every time Mr. Trump talks about raising tariffs the stock market tanks. If this continues, the reversal of the “wealth effect“ that we have enjoyed after the last couple of years of a great stock market will most certainly mean fewer people in the market for luxury goods. So we have the prospect of much higher prices and fewer buyers in the market. If those conditions prevail for any length of time, not a great time to be in the business of selling high-end Audio stuff. 

Its going to potentially suck both ways now as well, Canada will likely follow up with tariffs as well. Good thing I got my pass labs when I did ... but I'm still not sure about whether to keep my preamp or change it, so Ill be waiting for awhile. 

Before this is thread is deleted, just like the one I started last week: tariffs on Canadian audio gear can't help being a relevant topic of discussion here. Because tariff policy is an explosive political issue, it's inevitable that politics will become mixed with economics. Take down one thread and there will be another. And another after that. Because it concerns our relevant marketplace, which the 25% tariff on Canadian goods, effective 15 minutes ago EST, gravely affects.

Not making any big purchase items in this economic climate, I'll keep it up if need be. Intentionally choosing to not participate in this economy due to bad economic policy decisions may be the most effective thing we can do to protest this insanity.

Prices are not political. Just like facts aren't either. Sane people here who acknowledge facts are not the ones to blame for discussions blowing up
