CODA 8 V1

Just bought a used Coda 8 V1   Wow am I impressed. Could someone answer a question that the instructions don't address, or I missed it.  It has to do with the meter lights. I'm sure it has to do with the sensitivity of the meters. They give you an option of pressing the button ( on each side)  to give you a green light or an orange light,  flanking it on either side is a bright blue light that indicates the unit is operating correctly.  Could someone just clarify what the pressing of the button does, whether choosing green or orange? thanks so much!!! What a great amp!!!!!! Robert Tn

BTW, while on the subject, again not heard every CODA pre but while I really can appreciate the amps I gravitate to more juicy or colorful pres. Conrad Johnson, Luxman, etc. over either CODA or Pass.

To @robshaw,

It sounds like your tests of trying the amps with the different rooms and speakers paid off for you  - with the music you enjoy listening to most.

You made quick work of this, rather than pondering and reading for too long, you quickly tried different configurations with "your rooms, your speakers, your gear". That’s the way to do it.  Good for you. Happy listening.  yes

@decooney  thanks for all your help. All others also. I've depended and relied on Audiogon forum members a lot. It has paid dividends. This is not an easy hobby (expensive too) to learn about. With all your help I have brought together a lot of equipment (synergize) which just works for me. TKS

I've owned both the Coda No. 8 and S5.5. With my speakers, Fyne F703, I prefer the S5.5. It has replaced a very expensive class A tube amp. Far less heat (important to me as I live in the Arizona desert) and better sound. My final amp purchase.

Very impressive. I had almost gone the S5.5 route, so close. The dealer suggested because of my loud Rock and Roll and CURRENT hungry speakers, the 8 V1   I'm lucky, Even at 90 db, I'm still in class A  Enjoy! I will always wonder what the 5.5 would have sounded like. After hearing my new 8,  with Zeppelin, The Who, Queen, Lynard Skynard, etc. Very pleased  Robert
