Converting LP's and other analog media to CD's

I know this discussion might have been started before, but still. I have started to think about converting my analog to CD's. I have done some research and have come across the Alesis Masterlink 9600 modified by BPT and a few others as well. I have read the review in stereophile as well.

I am now thinking of getting that BPT modified version, but before I do that I would like to know if there is a way to upgrade the stock ADC and who does that.

Please share you experiences, methods and best practices.

Happy listening

The E-MU 1212 for PC or if you have a laptop, E-MU 1616 or E-MU 1616M which has RIAA. The M has fantastic ADC.
I use a regular non modified masterlink with a wadia 17 ADC and the sound I get is sooooo good. Most of my recordings from my vinyl are much better than any of the digital I own.
If you're considering the BPT modified Masterlink you may want to save a few bucks and consider one modified by TRL. I owned one and was very impressed with it. Will probably run about $1500 including the mods. Paul Weitzel uses it for his own 2 channel mixes and some of his recordings.
