Viva la Vinyl!!

Hey fellow vinylphiles! How about some feedback on any new vinyl discoveries, particularly on the fairly regular stream of reissues. Any real gems? Any dogs to avoid? None of us want to drop 25-30 bucks on a 180 gram slab 'o' vinyl only to discover something better heard on CD (OK you CD diehards, no offense - I listen to the silver discs too, just not NEARLY as often) Anyway, let's hear it for the continuing vinyl renaissance!

Try the 2 albums by Jacintha on Groove Note. Bonus with each is a 45 rpm recording of 4 songs. I have one of them, which has "Here's to Love" and "Autumn Leaves". Great recordings of a really nice singer. The other LP, which I don't have, has a recording of "The Look of Love", which I have not heard. Supposedly very nice (per a review I read).
ANYTHING by Classic Records is great, and their 45 RPM limited stuff is un real! Miles Davis Kinda Blue for sure. Learning that Dead can dance, Yellow, and Bjork is great stuff. Anything done By Roger Waters also.\ Peace, soundnught
I had been searching for a mint MOFI copy of "Crime Of The Century" I have seen several on e-Bay but the prices they are getting is absurd.I contacted a fairly well known vinyl dealer from L.A who also is known to be quite an authority on reissues. He recommended getting a copy of "Crime" on the Speakers Corner label. He also said besides the rare older English issues, the Speakers corner was the best reissue of "Crime"he had heard, including MOFI.I then contacted a Audiogon member who's advice and knowledge I respect very much.He assured me if this dealer, whom he knows, very highly recommended the Speakers Corner Label, then that was good enough for him.I recieved my copy today.Very nice 180 gm.The vinyl is dead quiet. The fidelity is out of this world.Huge, deep stage.Bass that has to be heard!! I know now I made the right decision.I am so glad I didnt spend $100 or more on a used MOFI!! I finally have a NEW KILLER copy of the great classic, Super Tramps- CRIME OF THE CENTURY!!!!
Thanks for the input!! I had been wondering about the MONO Hendrix 'Axis' LP, as I already have the stereo reissue, but I think I'll spring for the Classic. It's also always great to hear of a great reissue that obviates the need to cough up big bucks for a costly (and often overrated) MoFi. A few rarities I've come across lately and can enthusiastically recommend are: The Japanese version of Pink Floyd "The Wall" (40AP 1750~1) and a British pressing of Crowded House "Woodface" (064-7 93559 1). The latter was purchased from Tom Port at Better Records. I also understand that DCC is going to press some more vinyl soon (not sure of titles, but they had stopped pressing after some bad investments apparently). I have not heard a DCC LP title that I haven't considered STELLAR (musical taste aside). Keep those recommendations coming!
The newest Santana album is great music, as most of you already know. The recording and engineering is also well done, particularly for a commercial release. The cuts with Dave Matthews are better than many of his own albums, and I love the Everlast tracks. Finally, there are no dog sides on this double album, where you are forced to cue up to avoid a bad performance. All in all a great addition to your music collection, this album is way beyond the "audiophile" LP releases that are done just for the sake of sonics. (Note, this last comment is NOT aimed at the wonderful Classic Records reissues of Jazz, Classical and Popular music that I also love!)
