interested in exploring classical

Can anyone direct me in the right direction? I want to start exploring classical music and not sure where to start. My playback is CD. Is there a high quality company that is better? New to Audiogon and any help I would be grateful for

Check out a good historical overview of various genres. Even the word 'classical' is specific. Start with so-called 'early music' and move forward. Then there is the issue of the 'classical' music of non-western cultures.
Start out in the baroque period, Vivaldi, Handel, Bach, etc., go to the classical period, then to the romantic and modern periods and find what you like first, then you will grow into the rest on some level. This is the beginning of a great adventure for you. I grew up around zero classical music, just pop/rock/country. Now it is almost all classical/jazz, and nearly no country or pop.....just can't let go of that rock though. jallen

The radio station recommnedation is a great one. If not mentioned WFMT in Chicago has to be one of the finest and they offer streaming capability. Also 24X7 with announcer only commercials.
