Suggestions for a streamer only (I have a great DAC)
All you really need is a Grace digital link $179. Yea, not a name recognized here, although I have brought it up many times, especially to those that think they need to spend thousands. Yea, may not do MQA or whatever it's called, and yea it may n...
Replace inner sleeves on used records?
I have some records that have been in discwasher plastic sleeves for over 30 years! No sticking to vinyl....pristine as the day I bought them. Paper sleeves suck.
The problem with streaming
Nope! There is no substitute. I’m of the school of Tom Port, Better Records. I at first thought how can one pressing sound different or better than another? Until I actually tried it for myself. It is true, some pressings are just plain flat, no d...
Berkeley CA audiophile is desperate need of help
This is precisely why I predominantly only use physical media...lp, cd, cassette, mini disc, 8 track, etc...I don't need the hassle of today's technology...jmo
Help.... I'm scared to 'upgrade'!
I don’t know, but Michael Fremer gushed over the relatively affordable Graham Slee Era Gold V....I own it and think it’s nice. For holographic, I think you are going to need a tubed phono stage. I love my Tavish classic with NOS tubes installed. I...
Florida Audio Expo - Budget Room
So the components he heard had nothing to do with the great sound he heard? He was just hearing the cables? I doubt it
If you want the utmost clarity from your CDs
I would think if it had any merit at all, the manufactures would have thought of it and maybe included something similar in the box, or redesigned the cd tray. I'd have to agree with a few others, that it very well may throw off the laser reading....
which turntable for the future?
I like both my music hall mmf-7.3 and my Avid ingenium, all the turntable I'll ever need. If a turntable keeps proper speed, is well isolated, and has a decent tonearm, I cannot see spending any more than my two aforementioned tables. Both are wel...
Thinking of taking the plunge.
This for $179 is all you need. I’m using an external dac with mine (musical fidelity v90 dac). It is the Best bargain streamer available, plus it has screen. It has hi res capability (although I have no need for it) bluetooth, built in internet ra...
Need speaker recommendations.
Anything with a front port or down firing port would work fine...take your pick....lots to choose from.
Could this be true, or am I getting the run around.?
No problems with my SB, or my Music Hall mmf-7.3..both tables use same motor. You got a bum motor, just replace it. You can buy them separately on line...sometimes a better option rather than all the red tape. This could happen with any brand turn...
I am really disappointed with the hip-hop enthusiasts on Audiogon
And how is hip hop/rap considered to be music in any way shape or form? Discerning minds would like to know. Can't say I even own one hip hop/rap record....I must be missing out....as far as who died, was he shot, stabbed, natural causes? Not that...
The Best Preamp is no Preamp?
You could go with just a control amplifier.  https://avahifi.com/products/set-120-control-amplifier
CD transports; do they really matter
Putting two components into a shared chassis is always a compromise. A dac introduces noise to the transport section. It’s better to keep them seperate. Usually a transport will have a better mechanism and read capability, as that is where the mon...
Dedicated Circuits - Subpanel importance?
No need for a sub panel. All you need to do is use a piggy back breaker in the existing panel, if you happen to be short on space. If enough room, then add a conventional 20 amp breaker and run 12/2 romex to your receptacle of choice. I chose Audi...
