Planar speaker characteristics
I got into audio about 5 years ago. It all started with a trip to AudioConnection, a meeting with Johnny Rutan, and posting my first thread here on Agon. In the time since I’ve purchased quite a few speakers. Here is a list of the ones I’ve owned...
Something on top of a speaker=okay?
The only way to counter the negative effects of the stuffed animals is to put Townshend pods underneath them.
low bass response
very interesting post @james633
low bass response
The frequency of the low E string on a bass guitar is 41Hz. The wavelength would be 837 cm or 8.37 m. You mention that you are listening in the near field. How far back are you sitting? Perhaps there just isn’t enough distance between your speaker...
Full range speaker recommendation
I think the Harbeth P3ESR or Vandy VLR CT's would work wonderfully in that room and give the OP that fuller sound he is wanting.  I don't think any Magnepan is going to work in that room due to size limitations.

I haven't gotten my robe yet if that's what you mean.
Up to $4000US tower speakers for Jazz and Classical Music
Thanks again for the incredible input! no plans to upgrade the Audiolab as we just upgraded the amp (by the way, we find the synergy between the Audiolab amp and its CD transport to be excellent). We are aware it does not have a lot of power but...
Help me pick a new pair of speakers
Vandersteen VLR CT plus 2 REL subs. Should sound fantastic with your Rogue gear. I'm a big jazz fan and I heard this setup at John Rutan's place, Audioconnection, in Verona, NJ last week. Sublime..... Although he was using the ARC i/50 which I am...
Audio Research I/50
I had a chance to listen to the Audio Research I/50 at John Rutan's place last weekend. It was driving Vandersteen VLR CT's with a pair of REL T5/i's. Source was an Auralic Altair G1 I believe.  Very engaging system that really left me wanting fo...

Recommendation all-rounded speaker (small room)
Congrats on your purchase! Give those babies some time to break in before making any judgements on their sound. I've never owned ATC stand mounts but I would say at least 150 hours. Just put a CD on repeat all day if you can.
No love for Legacy Audio
I heard the Legacy Sigs a couple times at AudioDoctor Dave's place. They are quite special. I just don't have the room for them.
Vandersteen Speakers.. Are All Other Speaker Makers Doing It Wrong ?
@emrofsemanon "i have both vandies and thiels, the babies of each family. the vandies, even the smallest models, NEED a LARGE listening room, the dealer’s listening room was about 20’ by 40’, they sounded as designed in that large space [hologra...

How much difference does a phono preamp really make?
OP here. I haven't checked in on this thread in a while. Quick update, I purchased a used Herron VTPH-1 for about $1k that I've been very happy with. However, since I purchased a Lumin T2 I don't find myself spinning much vinyl lately. That's a wh...
