Parasound vs. Krell for 2 channel
A note on Class D amps with switching power supplies.  Even though the amp will produce more watts per channel, the switching power supply can limit the strength of the bass.  This can be why the D-Sonic sounded thin/weak in comparison to the slid...
Parasound vs. Krell for 2 channel
The Parasound is going to be significantly different in sonic signature.  You will definitely notice this on movies.  The Parasound is a very slightly warm and dry sound.  The Krell Chorus 5200 is a sweeter smoothed over sound.  The "clinical" des...
What sound formats do I need?
Dolby Atmos and DTS:X are new formats that allow for deciding on height / ceiling speakers.  They also don't necessarily have to be ceiling speakers.  They can also be mounted above your main speakers in the front top corners for left/right height...
Hdmi (I2s) upgrade
The Revelation Audio Labs could be a very nice cable.  Be aware that it is an i2s cable only!!  It does not have all the conductors to support a normal HDMI source, such as bluray.  Also, they do not publish the awg size of these conductors.  Pure...
Lively, fast & open sounding integrated under 3k?
I don't pay attention to reviews much anymore because they really don't tell you anything.  I have owned three different JC1 amps, one of them was brand new (and burned in 500 hours).  The A21 was also brand new.  I have owned a variety of differe...
Lively, fast & open sounding integrated under 3k?
Sorry, but all amps pretty much have specs like this.  It comes down to listening.  It may seem to you that the high frequencies are not rolled off, but if you put the A21 side by side with something like a Krell Evolution amp, it becomes very app...
Lively, fast & open sounding integrated under 3k?
Not to me they become invisible like the speakers have left the room, and the music just washes over you in a 3D sound stage, that you swear you can get up and walk into. And I've built many, some very big ones over the last 30 years, even a s...

@nonoise - when are you going to get some Burson V6 Vivid op amps to put in your Kinki? lol
Lively, fast & open sounding integrated under 3k?
Not from what I’ve heard, that may apply to the Halo JC1’s etc, switched into high Class-A bias mode, but the standard a/b lower bias mode is definitely a cooler more etched sound. I have owned the JC1 monoblocks as well as the A21 stereo amps...
Lively, fast & open sounding integrated under 3k?
Parasound Halo is voiced just slightly on the warm side of neutral, so it is not going to be as open or high resolution as stuff like Hegel, Music Fidelity, Yamaha.
Are 1st Generation B&W 800D Still Considered Diamonds?
It's just a product naming convention.  800D are still synthetic diamond tweeters.  The 2nd generation "800 Diamond" made improvements on the tweeter crossover circuit as well as the tweeter magnet motor.
Lively, fast & open sounding integrated under 3k?
I don't think I would recommend the Krell s300i integrated for this scenario.  The Krell really smooths the highs and it's not as open as others.Music Fidelity would be a good candidate.  I would also look at Hegel integrateds and even Yamaha inte...
Help with Projector display
I roughly measured the screen size and it looks like a 4:3 ratio screen.   The NEC LT380 is also a 4:3 projector. The projected image is a 16:9 image, so I'm guessing your bluray or source device is outputting a 16:9 signal and the projector is o...
Help with Projector display
What is the exact height and width of the screen?   What is the make / model of the projector.  It sounds like an aspect ratio mismatch between the projector and screen.
