Which Would You Choose?
Be careful what you ask for on this site. OP is thinking of switching amp and some recommendations given are you need to upgrade EVERYTHING LOL.
Steely Dan UHQR
AJA is sooo yesterday. Another audiophile masterpiece I never take the time to listen to anymore. Life is too short to play the same records over and over and over.
Can you provide context on First Watt?
Enjoy your Wyred preamp 👍
Which is better, a fussy speaker or a versatile one?
Will never know, $400k for speakers is not in my budget. But lets say it was, I would definitely pick the ones that do it all without having to spend an extra million on special amps and cables.
Does a particular musician’s songwriting and artistry speak to you above all others?
Since I keep up with new music all the time, I have different favorite musicians who speak to me every other month. For real.
"The Ultra High-End Speaker."
@hilde45  Looking at your system, I truly respect the attention you strive to give to EVERYTHING.
"The Ultra High-End Speaker."
Everything matters is the short answer as always. But to over amplify the importance of one aspect of audiophilia over another is not a fruitful argument imo. Room construction, size, acoustic treatments, speakers, amps, preamps, sources, cables, ...
Equalizer in a Hi Fi system
The typical "mine is better than yours" argument. Yours still has no remote ☹️
Equalizer in a Hi Fi system
That unit seems to have no remote. A no go for my need.
Equalizer in a Hi Fi system
Many audiophiles do have a negative view of equalizers and it is at their own loss. Kind of like I stubbornly refused to go into streaming for years, being the "analog is the best way kind of guy". So glad I grew out of both these preconceived not...
Does a record player make that much of a difference??
Everything makes a difference, unfortunately.
Have you found your "End-Game" speakers yet? I have. And it feels so good!!!
Mine weigh 214 lbs each, so they are my end game speakers unless I want to move them again.
Equalizer in a Hi Fi system
I have the Loki Max. It runs all my digital end, CDs, streaming, tuner and DVD player. It obviously is a huge help in tuning poorly recorded music and there is plenty of that. However I tend to listen to well recorded music so I do not use it very...
Big speakers, are they really the best way to get great sound?
OP, The Montana XPS do need a long burn in period, minimum 400 hours, and they need to be playing at least at 70 db to do them justice. 75 db is my sweet spot. And of course it is totally system dependent. I do appreciate your gentle approach to ...
Audiophilia: Is it the pursuit of audio excellence or just a desire to tinker.
It's obviously a personal thing. At first I liked the tinkering part out of necessity to get the sound I strived for and that can last for years. Now that I have the sound my ears wanted, I no longer tinker, at all, I just sit and listen with sati...
