I Am Not an Audio Snob Audio snobbery is not uncommon on blogs like these, however I do not pay enough attention to it with the so many different handles on here to be able to make such judgment. I do like the McIntosh reference to it though. Do people go with it for so...
Would you choose 1 ou 2 subwoofers for a stereo set? 2 big ones, 12" is what I use. Only way to go for best integration into stereo.
Leave system on or power everything down? I turn off only equipment that gets hot to the touch, meaning currently my 500 watts amp, gustard dac which are known to run hot and the pretty warm schiitt loki max. All other 7 pieces are always on. I listen to my system almost daily and only tu...
What is your most fond musical memory. Spring 1970, 16 years old, first out of town concert. My dad drove me and actually bought a ticket too, but he sat in the back while I was second position sitting on the floor. In Montreux, Switzerland, right on the shores of Lake Geneva, in the o...
Time To Upgrade My Digital Front End The new Innuos pulse if you don't need to rip CDs. I have the Innuos ZENith mk3 connected to the Gustard X26 PRO and am very satisfied to say the least. So pulse with r26 should be equally wonderful.
Resolving CD Transports Crowd Sourcing I have the Jay's cdt2-mk3 and bought a back up Phillips drive just in case. It has been flawless in every way and sounds as good as my analog end costing three times more, specially using the I2s connection via a Tubulus Concentus cable.
Bought a system without auditioning, thoughts? You are over thinking it before you even try it. RELAX. You bought good stuff, let it all break-in while you treat your listening room. A year from now, you can over think it and start the component swapping as needed.
Mental and auditory acuity, and aging thecarpathian made my week, that article is basically a replica of my diet. No wonder my hearing is still very good at 69, even so I have tinnitus.
Looking for a Warmer Sounding Phono Cartridge @kevemaher My current carts are Lyra Kleos and Sumiko Starling. The Kleos recommends a parallel setting while the Starling recommends tail down. Obviously the raking angle of the stylus effects how to adjust the VTA. But in general, tail down w...
Looking for a Warmer Sounding Phono Cartridge First thing I would do is lowering your VTA. It might just be enough increase in the low frequencies to soften up the top end. Worth a try since it costs nothing.
Not sure for power conditioner my amp or not. @vonhelmholtz Great sensible advice. I plug my amp and everything else into the Black Lion PG-2R. Dedicated high current plugs, regulator and high surge protection. No difference in sound between directly into wall or conditioner. Trust your ea...
Jay's "Ugly Truth" video +100 @mahgister You captured it succinctly and perfectly. I do spend considerably more money on equipment than mahgister does but I still spent way more on the room itself than the equipment.
Time of Day for best Sound High humidity sucks the life out of the sound in my experience. Hence I use a dehumidifier to keep humidity at 40 or below. That makes a lot bigger difference in my house of stereo than time of day.
WHY CABLES MATTER! Now, let's talk about fuses.
