B&K ST-202 call B&K. They have always sent me that kind of info when I asked them.
tube pre suggestions I would highly recommend a TAD 150 signature preamp. There are 2 of them posted on A'gon currently (I have one, but I don't know the sellers). It is a full remote operation except for power on (for that you have to get off the sofa. I don't know i...
Where to best upgrade - TT, arm or phono stage? I don't know if arms other than the Tabriz will drop in. It'd be nice to expand choices that don't require major surgery. looking at the picture of the Radius 5, it appears to me that ANY Rega form tonearm will be drop in compatible. If you shop f...
Where to best upgrade - TT, arm or phono stage? I have a Tabriz Zi and would recommend it highly. Are you sure it's the only drop in replacement though? It's Rega geometry and any Rega, Clearaudio, and other arms with Rega Geometry should fit.
how to clean old LPs I had a similar situation to yours - my vinyl collection sat unplayed for about 15 years. When I first took them out again to play them, they all played awful - pops, ticks etc. My suspicion is mold, but who knows. I first tried manual cleaning us...
Linn Basic LVX or Rega RB300 ? I would sell the Rega and the Basik and get an Ittok. That's the arm you want on the LP12.
Home theater pass-through unnecessary? Yeah, but what if you mistakenly switch inputs before lowering the volume on the pramp? Not an issue. As Reubent says, you simply pick a ref point on your preamp that won't blow the doors off if another source is used.
Jennifer Warnes 20th Ann Famous Blue Raincoat RI it's interesting, and surprising to me that this post brought out such strong contrary opinion. Everything is being reissued these days, and everyone does interviews on obscure "art" radio stations. As for this album being an "audiophile" recordin...
Home theater pass-through unnecessary? I've done it that way and it worked as well (to my ears) as it does with passthru (I have 2 preamps - 1 with, 1 without). As for remote control, I couldn't live without one of those.
Jennifer Warnes 20th Ann Famous Blue Raincoat RI I expected this may appeal to JW fans (which I believe there are a number of on this site based on prior dialog). I wanted a good CD of this album because my original CD copy is poorly mastered and leaves a lot to be desired. I also have it on vin...
Jeff Beck "performing this week" OMG thanks Jim. I order it on your recommendation - got it yesterday. I like it!! Looking forward to the DVD . . .
Rebuilding LP12; which tone arm if it were me, I would install an Ittok LVII (or LVIII if you can find one) if I couldn't find an Ekos in my budget. It doesn't seem right putting a Rega arm on a LP12. Besides, even with rewiring, and a heavyweight and VTA, I preferred the Ittok....
Convert a Dynaco ST-70 into a guitar amp? I've been playing around converting old tube gear to guitar amps for a little over a year and am hardly an authority, but here's my 2 cents anyway. 1) I think you'll be disappointed in the sound using your KEF drivers unless they truely produce th...
Bi-amp vs. Mono check out this thread for a discussion of mono vs horizontal and vertical biamping with some expert input.
anyone else hate locking RCAs? I agree too, though some brands are better than others. I have some that work fine. The other problem is they are all too bulky - even the ones that lock/unlock with ease. On a crowded preamp back panel this is another challenge when swapping gear. |
