Any Herron VTPH-2 Phono Stage Owners out there?
Lew, call Keith Herron. He can give an explanation of the design. He's easy to talk to.
MRA : Myth or Menace?
Is MRA a myth or just a myth? Just to be sure, I researched the process of stamping out vinyl records. NOWHERE in the description of the process is ANY mention of any kind of mold release or special mix of vinyl with a mold release added. There is...
Cleaning records. How often really?
Bdp24 - Watch a video of the stamping process. No Mold release. Ask The Disc Doctor.I won't give my opinion of LAST products. I'm still try to scrub off that %&#@ from the few records I treated. After 30 years.
Cleaning records. How often really?
Mold release? Really? What state within the process is mold released used? I've watched videos of record stamping and there's zero mold release applied. So when is it used, what is it and is "mold release" just a fabricated excuse to sell another ...
Cartridge breakin ......how long?
IMO, it depends on the cartridge. My experience with various cartridges is between 20 and 200 hours to reach best performance.ALSO, at least in the case of an AT OC9/(all of them), if they sit idle for a while (week or more), it may take them a fe...
MC Cartridges Under $1,000
Though some feel it's system dependent, a lot of people think the AT OC9/II or OC9/III are good matches for JMW arms. But if your system leans toward the bright side, you may find the cartridge a bit aggressive. I like it on my JMW-12 arm, but YMMV.
record storage question
Praggmatic solution.... Don't store them against the wall itself. Put a little space between the wall and the record cover. An inch should be plenty. Then there is no worry.
Phono Interconnect
I've been very satisfied with Herron Audio interconnects. Uncolored, inexpensive and don't seem to have interaction issues regardless of the impedances of the components they link together.
Super Noisy Phono Pre--Help?
Unplug your cartridge leads and report back how much noise was present.
What is your recommendation on upgrading a Linn LP
Upgrading a Linn? Don't waste your money. Even a fully upgraded up to day Linn is still terribly colored and not up to any of the competition. Except maybe an AR.
clearaudio turntables vs vpi
Linn has never manufactured any turntable, regardless of how much modification, that is in the same league as a current VPI or Clearaudio table in the $3,000 or above range. Nothing at all. Not even close. Way too much coloration.
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ...
I use an OC9/II with "infinite loading" on a Herron VTPH-2. VERY GOOD.
Cleaning flood damaged vinyls
CALL, don't email, Duane Goldman (The Disc Doctor). He may have some suggestions and might be willing to mix up some special cleaner to address your special cleaning needs. He has been studying record cleaning for probably 40 years, I doubt there ...
Are Lyra Cartridges Repairable to 2nd Owner?
They can be repaired. Either your dealer is ignorant of the policy or trying to make a quick sale.
What is your recommendation on upgrading a Linn LP
Replace the Linn with a VPI Prime / 3D atm. Nothing can be done to a Linn that will make it sound nearly as good as a modern design. VPI Prime with the 3D arm is probably one of hte better bang for the buck table / arm combos today.
