Upgrade LP12 or buy new VPI?
So, Bryans, what type of sound do you like? Are you happy with the warm, musical or do you long for detail and dynamics? No wrong answers, just asking what your preferences are as this will help you decide what you want to do.
Tone arm for SOTA/ZYX
I'll play devil's advocate. Since this is not your primary source I'm thinking why not try the Silver on the Nova for short change? This is a great example of a better table allowing an arm to shine more to its fullest. You could always do the arm...
How to clean BAT CDP?
Yes, that's why I'm not sure if I want to do that. ;)
How to clean BAT CDP?
Hey, Paul! Yes, skipping just a bit but the CD it's skipping on isn't exactly new, if you get my meaning. But it played good the day before so I figured a quick swipe at the lens would do it. I may send it to them anyway, still trying to decide if...
How Long Cables From Turntable to Preamp?
Yes, you have it! Your phono stage is going to bring the signal up closer to what you would get from a CDP and will be much less susceptible to cable resistance and capacitance. Single ended will be fine. All things considered it is the easiest me...
How Long Cables From Turntable to Preamp?
I think the correct answer will depend on the electrical parameters of the cables and the cartridge used, but in simplest terms the answer is "not very long at all". The signal generator in cartridges is not designed to push a signal very far at a...
Teres, Galibier and Redpoint
Very good example, DougDeacon. I have experienced this with my 10t's. If I want to hear mud in the woofers I can just remove the 40# stands. Dmailer, DougDeacon burst my bubble as far as using a ring since he told me that the TriPlanar would not c...
Teres, Galibier and Redpoint
Dmailer, thanks for clearing up the armpod alignment. The implementation you describe sounds like it may have some advantages over the pivoting armboards used by Chris and Thom, although I'm guessing those pods are more expensive. Are you using the...
Teres, Galibier and Redpoint
Hi Albert,Yes, I think all three use the Maxon DC motor. Unless things have changed, only Teres and Redpoint are using the feedback controller that was developed during the original project. It uses a closed loop feedback controller with a sensor ...
Teres, Galibier and Redpoint
Yes, please take my comments and observations as nothing more than that, my opinion based on my preferences.I am still a big fan of Basis tables and the Vector. I've used both for a couple of years and could be happy with Basis for many more years...
Teres, Galibier and Redpoint
I am completely sympathetic! I, too, am looking into my next table and have considered all three of these in addition to Avid and Acoustic Signature. It is most likely that all of these tables are capable of great performance. I have owned a very ...
Lak Needs Transport CD Assistance :-
Lak, what did you use to clean the lens?
Newbie Tubie just wants insight and direction....
Assuming your phase is correct, I would suggest looking at rolling in some different tubes, especially the 12au7's. Maybe just the thing to get the imaging you're looking for.
Was your first cartridge relatively expensive?
Here is my opinion based on my experiences over the last several years.I remember a few years back that a similar question was asked. "should a vinyl newbie start with a simpler/cheaper table or not?" I also remember a response from TWL that reall...
Receiver Upgrade - Denon vs. Rotel
