Cartridge, Phono Preamp Hum
Turns out a ground wire from phono pre wrapped around one leg of the table then hooked to the input of the table speed controller has done the trick. No kidding.

Hi Spirit and yes. It seems that with maglev a bit more oil is needed in the reservoir. That and got everything level, no problems. One can really get an education on this site. Working on the remaining acoustical room issues. As much trouble as i...
Aesthetix Rhea vs. BAT VK P-10 Phono Stage
I have the BAT with upgraded caps and new transformers. Too tight for tube bloom for sure. I'm sure the Aesthetix has it's own positives, can't speak to that. The BAT hammers the music home though.

Suggestions for speakers for my setup
I have a pair of Zu Def 4s paired with Mcintosh MC60s, circa 1957. Just getting broken in. Bass-how badly do you want to hurt yourself? As above, If you want a listen contact me. Atlanta area. I'll check this thread periodically. Thought about the...
Peachtree Audio Nova125 & sensitive speakers
Ran a Decco 65 with Zu Def4s for about a month while my Mac60s were being refurbished. Dead quiet.
What speakers work best with electronic music?
Get the Tekton, if you're cost conscious here. Enzos or Pendraagons for the big sound. Up the line, Zu Def4s for all out. They won't break up and with 50-60 Watts OMG, will blow you up. Dynamics in spades.
Audiophile newbie
I have a NAD M55 Cd player. Love it.I will note here a thread you might find informative.Tekton Lore vs Zu Omen. I have a Zu Omen paired with a Peachtree Audio Decco 65. For the money it will blow your socks off. Bought it for the living room syst...

upgrading the analog setup
You might like the Zesto Andros, as far as phono pre goes. George Counnas has yet to produce a product that fails to win product of the year in some category. Saw one on this site used, barely, for $3300. Personally have a BAT but if I were in the...

Peter,I would suggest, given the amount of intellectual interest you seem to have in this, and the number of turntables you now employ, that you purchase one. At the price I really do think, on the chance that it doesn't float your boat, you could...

Harold (nitb)Thanks.Just know that you listened to a lot of vinyl. I was running after kids. But I saved a lot of vinyl, many early pressings of great artists. I do have a lot to look forward to.

Tms0425 recommended. Was thinking Thorens TD125 refurbished and he said it would be OK but I could just skip all the upgrades and go straight to a Trans-Fi. So I did. Bear in mind this is my first music system in thirty years, can't compare other a...

Spirit-thanksTom- thanksThe room prep is taking forever. Fortunately GIK and Jim Smith are nearby.Regardless of the different takes on turntables, the T-Sal combo is a pretty good entry level tt. JK-it's likely to be the only one I ever purchase. ...

I recently purchased a Salvation-Terminator combo per suggestion of one of the posters in this thread. Cost is $4675 with shipping and insurance.
