Do You Play Or Save Your Best Cartridges
I am sparing when it comes to enjoying my London Decca Reference and Jubilee. John Wright has retired, and the new owner of his business is an unknown quantity. I got essentially nowhere asking if the Jubilee could be converted to mono (something ...

I have waited several days before looking in. One does not want to be irritated. ...you are no[t] longer an audiophile. You are just a music lover. Not a bad place to be. Certainly a lot less expensive. As you wish. I shall still point out whe...

Woo hoo! Here we go again! All I can say is that people are entitled to like what they want but then they are not true audiophiles. @mijostyn Well, you have said many times we must ignore what our ears hear, so that bit is consistent. Except f...

What? It's AUDIBLE? Listen to yourself, if you care to believe in your ears. We are not allowed to believe in our ears, right? I'm quoting an authority here.

what you think you hear is meaningless. People have to get off this listening thing. Just asking for a friend, but why, actually, do you listen to music at all if those quotes from your posts are serious?

And as much as I publicly denigrate unbelievable tweaks and hacks, if something is not easily measured, our own ears have to decide. We remember, most of us, that ears are affected by psychoacoustics. And even if you can't measure the effect of a ...
What is the best way to clean Vinyl?
You can't actually go wrong with a SpinClean. You certainly can with an ultrasonic machine. The cheapest one that we know to be safe and effective on LPs is the Humminguru. If you want to repurpose one of those devices used in the (admittedly fasc...
Can I get more out of my Koetsu ?
Re blank vinyl calibration record: I think one might use an old CD that way! Although I do have some old DG albums that take up three sides of two disks. The last side, that says in German, something like "Achtung! No musik recorded here!" does ...
phono cartridge help
Grado Prestige Series's is an easy recommendation. A positive thing about the Grado cartridges is that they are moving- iron and consequently not affected by cable capacitance And the Nagaoka is moving iron too, although they point out their ca...

That's your choice - more effort with maybe slightly better results, or less effort and perhaps less good. As I said, lots of people use an U/S machine alone.
Phono Pre Gain
I wouldn’t begin to worry about 2db. Sometimes we overthink things. And since I'm running in a Bronze at the moment for its ancestor, the Kontrapunkt C, I have to say it sounds marvellous, even after <10 hours. I'm currently alternating sides ...
Humminguru S-DUO
You do you etc.... I'd be delighted for the magic eraser/onzow users to post before and after pictures. I have always used a carbon fibre brush (and I can't recall whether it was one that came with a Benz Micro or an Ortofon, but they both look t...
Humminguru S-DUO
Curious, I bought an SSL certificate for the site and if I right click and copy image link it does show as an https address. But lets throw them up on Flickr: Filthy: Cleaned: How's that?
What is the best way to clean Vinyl?
It seems like one cheap enough to fit your budget, and would certainly do a creditable job. Sure we can throw criticisms at the Humminguru, but for the price it does more than anyone has a right to expect. Lots of people use it alone, with no mec...
