Rega Elys II cartridge: Is it worth the money??
Rega is the Bose of the UK? What a stupid and arrogant thing to say especially from a dealer.Blowhard dealers are sooooo annoying.
When Cleaning Records with...
The problem I have found with the Disc Doctor cleaning fluid is that it takes a few plays before it sounds good. I have rinsed and rinsed and still have found the record to sound a little dull on the first play. I don't use it anymore because of t...
Best iPods for AUDIOphiles
I've owned the 60GB 80GB and my friend bought the newest 160GB version. I thought the sound got progressively better with each new version. I spent a good deal of time comparing the 80GB to the 160GB and it was enough better than I want to replace...
Love my ipod, Hate my ear buds....
One nice thing about the Shure IEMs is that the cord goes up and around the back of your ear (I'm sure some other brands do this too). Once you put them in they stay and you don't get a lot of noise when the cord is bumped. I had the Etys and they...
Parasound Halo JC1s
Congratulations on the new amps, sounds like you made a good choice. I have the same amps and you are right in thinking to run them balanced. They are meant to be run balanced. And yes they are hot. I tune the bias down in the summer and I turn the...
New to Analog and just played my first record in
Ed, Well I have almost that same system you are describing (less the Synergistic USB cord which I want to try) sitting on the rack right next to my turntable. YOu know what, it sounds awesome. I love it, I play it more than my turntable. I love it...
Love my ipod, Hate my ear buds....
I second the Shure SE530. They are easily driven by the ipod alone (no headphone amp needed) and they are comfortable for an IEM. There are other options (like the Ultimate Ears) but some of the them need a headphone amp to sound good.
New to Analog and just played my first record in
+++Oh really!!! Where exactly did you find this fact?+++Sorry, let me re-phrase. It is the general consenus (amongst those who have owned both) that good vinyl beats digital every time. Just about every professional reviewer says the same thing. H...
New to Analog and just played my first record in
It seems ridiculous that you would even have high expectations with what you are running, maybe a taste of what it's all about. Fifty dollars on a phono pre, come on. How do you even know the table and cart you have are set up right and working ri...
iTouch-MacMini w/ Mocha VNC lite & Chicken of VNC
Wouldn't you just want to run COVNC on the itouch to connect with the mini? That is how I have it running on my laptop and it works fine (with a little lag however)

Review: Proac Tablette-2000 Monitor
Nice review. I had a pair of these in my movie system. I decided to hook them up to my main system where I use Von Schweikert VR4-SR speakers (10K) and they are seriously making me reconsider having big speakers. They lose in just about every audi...

Sanders sound or parasound for big ESL's
Lance if I had to guess I'd say the pair of ESL 300s (very similar I would think to the 800s) would sound more powerful and dynamic than the JC-1s. The JC-1s don't have the powerful character of most powerful amps I've tried, but I think they'd be...
